They love animals so much, in fact, that they’re willing to donate money in support of organizations that work to protect them. Here in our city, Zoo Knoxville aims to save species from extinction, both locally and globally.
Their annual (wild) fundraiser Zoofari hosts some of Knoxville’s most influential people as they dine next to the rhinos and bid on exotic auction items beside the lions. This event raises over a million dollars for the zoo’s initiatives in a single evening and provides a themed experience you can only dream of!
We were honored to be approached by Zoo Knoxville to help make the production experience for the 2022 event a little less… wild. We developed a plan that would simultaneously stream a live studio feed across six different locations within the zoo with zero delay across the feed. If you’ve ever done live streaming, then you know – that’s a tough task. We found the perfect partner to handle the LED walls, sound and lay us tactical fiber across the zoo.
We also constructed a studio in the Wee Play Adventure area (home to Slim the Komodo Dragon, Dolly the python, and dozens of other reptiles) to house our hosts. With the theme “Color in the Wild,” our art department had a ton of fun selecting exotic plants for the set, and our lighting department added some incredible splashes of color to make the scene really stand out!
We created a slew of pre-recorded content in studio featuring committee members, zoo officials and high-profile zoo supporters ahead of time to make the evening run smoothly. This content was the icing on the cake and allowed us to really make these segments pop with the use of animation and creative set design.
All in all, the evening was a huge success, and we’ve been invited back for years to come! This event was easily one of our favorites – we got to problem solve, work together as a team and ultimately, make a difference in animal conservation!
