Big Slate Media is a Knoxville-based content creation agency specializing in video production and digital marketing. We provide full-service organic social media and website content management, digital marketing strategy, email marketing, copywriting, graphic design and paid campaign management.

Internship deets: 

This is a 12-week internship program for aspiring professionals interested in social media, content creation and digital marketing. You’ll work a minimum of 15 hrs per week in our (brand-new!) office performing the following tasks: 

  • Assist in organic social media management for Big Slate Media and external clients (including content creation/design, copywriting and scheduling posts, responding to messages, engagement management, etc.); 
  • Assist in developing and creating social media advertising campaigns;
  • Analyze campaign metrics and create social media reports for clients;
  • Serve as a Production Assistant (PA) on video shoots, as needed; 
  • Additional digital marketing tasks, including copywriting and email marketing assistance, as needed;
  • Administrative/organizational tasks, as needed

We don’t wanna BS you; we’ve got some dirty work that needs to get done, too—building spreadsheets, petting Stamper (the best boy), and washing Jess’s car (not really). However, you’ll have the chance to gain a real, working knowledge of the digital marketing industry by supporting all aspects related to what our content creation agency does on a daily basis and in a variety of ways.

The work schedule is flexible based on your availability and our needs; however, we do require a strict 15-hour minimum of availability during a typical work week (8:30 AM – 5 PM; Mon. – Fri.) We will want a “regular” schedule, so we can count on you for certain days.

  • Self-taught learner willing to read and keep up-to-date on technological changes and how they could be used by Big Slate Media;
  • Someone willing to be in goofy videos and occasional cameos;
  • Someone with a creative mind willing to think outside the box

Technical Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Mac OS;
  • Previous experience managing social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok; 
  • Ability to design compelling social media graphics using software like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.);
  • Exceptional copywriter; 
  • Proficient in G-Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets); 
  • Working knowledge of WordPress CMS is preferred but not required
