Big Slate Media is a Knoxville-based content creation agency specializing in video production and digital marketing. We provide full-service organic social media and website content management, digital marketing strategy, email marketing, copywriting, graphic design and paid campaign management.

Internship deets:

This is a semester-long internship program during the Fall 2026 semester for aspiring professionals interested in social media, content creation and digital marketing. You’ll work a minimum of 15 hrs per week and, most importantly, you’ll be doing real work that supports our team and clients.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Assist in organic social media management for clients (including creating social media graphics, writing captions and other copy, scheduling posts, responding to messages, outbound engagement, and more;
  • Create and edit social media content that is on-brand, polished and ready for client review;
  • Assist with content calendars, brainstorming and social media strategy;
  • Serve as a Production Assistant (PA) on video shoots, as needed;
  • Assist with email marketing and other digital marketing projects;
  • Complete administrative and organizational tasks that help keep our team and clients moving;
  • Look for ways to contribute without always waiting for someone to assign a task.

We don’t wanna BS you; we’ve got some dirty work that needs to get done, too—building spreadsheets, petting Stamper (the best boy), and washing Jess’s car (not really). However, you’ll have the chance to gain a real, working knowledge of the digital marketing industry by supporting all aspects of what our content creation agency does on a daily basis and working across a variety of clients and projects.

The work schedule is flexible based on your availability and our needs; however, we do require a strict 15-hour minimum of availability during a typical work week (8:30 AM – 5 PM; Mon. – Fri.) We will want a “regular” schedule, so we can count on you for certain days.

What’s in it for you:

  • Paid internship;
  • Opportunity for class credit, if applicable;
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience in digital marketing and social media management;
  • Occasional travel for client shoots or events;
  • Opportunity to earn commission on sales generated;
  • Opportunity to connect with clients and learn essential business operations;
  • Relaxed, casual work environment;
  • We’ll buy your lunch every now and then;
  • Stamper and Stanley, the office dogs and the goodest boys around (or the “Best Boys” in the production world)

Who’s the right fit?

  • Someone who is generally optimistic, positive, and willing to jump in;
  • Someone passionate about the industry;
  • Someone humble, teachable and comfortable receiving feedback;
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing polished work;
  • Can manage deadlines and follow through;
  • A critical thinker who will do what they think is best, not just what they are told;
  • Is willing to learn independently and keep up-to-date on changes in social media, technology and digital marketing;
  • Someone willing to be in goofy videos and occasional cameos;
  • Someone with a creative mind and enjoys brainstorming new ideas.

Technical requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Mac OS;
  • Previous experience managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and TikTok;
  • Demonstrated ability to design compelling social media graphics using software like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.);
  • Strong copywriting skills with the ability to write and edit social media captions, marketing copy and other client-facing content;
  • Proficient in G-Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets);
